Osteoarthritis affects us all

L’arthrose est-elle héréditaire ?

Yes, the disease has a hereditary component, but mainly for osteoarthritis of the fingers as well as that of the knee.

Genes account for 2-3% of the disease. Thus, a woman will have a higher risk of developing finger osteoarthritis (so-called digital osteoarthritis) if her mother, aunt or grandmother is affected by the disease.
