Osteoarthritis in Animals

Osteoarthritis also causes pain source in our four legged companions and is therefore a major concern for veterinarians in both equine and canine medicine.

60% of the horses sent for an orthopedic consultation suffer from an articular pathology. Osteoarthritis also forces race horses to give up competition. It is clear from the value of some mounts that the economic stakes are thus sometimes very high.

45% of dogs between the ages of 8 and 12 show signs of osteoarthritis and
20% of dogs older than one year have osteoarthritis in association with hip or elbow malformations.

Up to 90% of cats aged 12 and older also develop osteoarthritic lesions and pain.

As you can see, this disease does not spare our pets!
